During the warm summer months here in Mt. Prospect, IL, you’ll need a way to cool yourself off. What better way to chase off the perspiration and heat than by sipping on some deliciously refreshing drinks? In this week’s The Element Apartment Homes Blog, we’ll share a few recipes for drinks you can make to stave off the summer heat!

Arnold Palmer

Lemonade

  • 1 cup sugar

  • 1 3/4 cups water

  • 4 large, juicy lemons

Black Tea

  • 1 family-sized black iced tea bag, such as Luzianne

  • 4 cups water

Arnold Palmer

  • Ice cubes

  • 1 cup Black Tea (above)

  • 3/4 cup Lemonade (above)

  • Lemon Simple Syrup, to taste (from Lemonade, above)

  • Lemon round, for garnish

This recipe may seem simple, but the flavors it packs are far from simple! The combination of lemonade and tea combine for a refreshing drink that you may have trouble putting down! THe classic Arnold Palmer is great for backyard barbecues and hanging out on the porch on a hot summer day!

Easy Peach Fruit Smoothie

  •  5 ounces vanilla yogurt

  •  1 1/2 cup fresh or frozen peaches

  •  1/2 cup crushed ice

  •  3/4 cup coconut milk* (if needed, substitute milk of choice)

  •  1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  •  1/2 teaspoon sugar (adjust type of sugar and sweetness to preference)

Because it’s summer, the peach is a great fruit to incorporate into your smoothies! The sweetness and tartness of the peach mixes well with the creamy nature of the coconut milk and vanilla yogurt. Don’t let your summer pass without trying this peach smoothie recipe by She Wears Many Hats.
