July 4th marks the day that America won its independence from Great Britain; it’s a day for patriotism and celebration throughout the United States. The Element Apartment Homes Blog invites you to celebrate by watching a patriotic movie at your Mt Prospect, IL apartment sometime this month. Today, we’re sharing a list of movies we think you’ll love, as well as a few snack suggestions.

Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk (2016)

To those who haven’t experienced it for themselves, going to war can never truly be understood. Considered a hero by all, Billy Lynn comes home from Iraq for a brief victory tour. Both he and his fellow soldiers are well received by all, but will anyone ever understand the haunting realities they faced?

Independence Day (1996)

The aliens are coming and their goal is to invade and destroy Earth. Fighting superior technology, mankind's best weapon is the will to survive. This unforgettable movie stars Will Smith back in the day. 

American Sniper (2014) 

An inspiring and heart-wrenching story about a man who is devoted to protecting his country at all costs. Navy S.E.A.L. sniper Chris Kyle's pinpoint accuracy saves countless lives on the battlefield and turns him into a legend. Back home to his wife and kids after four tours of duty, however, Chris finds that it is the war he can't leave behind. 

The Patriot (2000) 

It’s hard to forget Mel Gibson’s incredible performance in this inspiring movie. It is 1776 in colonial South Carolina. Benjamin Martin, a French-Indian war hero who is haunted by his past, now wants nothing more than to live peacefully on his small plantation, and wants no part of a war with the most powerful nation in the world, Great Britain.

The recipe calls for sliced watermelon, plain yogurt, sliced strawberries, halved blackberries, honey, vanilla extract, and fresh mint leaves. Feel free to adjust the toppings to your liking.
